The Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the liaison between students and faculty. Each academic term brings a new president and for the 2026-2027 academic year, Amanda Ali was voted as president. Ali is a junior
psychology and criminal justice major in the Honors College and was previously the SGA public relations officer during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Ali’s experience on SGA led her to run for this position. She explained, “I loved working with our past president from last year. And just being able to help the community and give back is so important to me.”
One of her goals is for clubs to have an easier way of asking questions
when needed. For this to happen, each club will have a designated student senator who will serve as their liaison this semester. These senators will be required to attend 2 of their assigned club meetings and provide monthly check-in emails to ensure clubs are supported.
Club support is one of Ali’s main objectives. “One of my biggest goals was to make sure that community engagement is fostered. So that means making sure that clubs are doing what they’re supposed to be doing and just making a welcoming environment,” she said.

SGA’s new president is Amanda Ali. A little fun fact she shared is that her go-to order in the UC is the spicy crab rolls at Asian Fusion.

As a double major and an active participant on campus, Ali has many responsibilities to juggle but values carving out time for herself. “One of the ways I do that [finding time for herself] is I’m very big on art and I’m a very artsy person,” she said.
“So this semester I actually ended up taking a drawing workshop class, just to kind of give myself a break,” she added.
Ali has already started making changes with the rebranding of the Fall
Tailgate, now called Pantherfest. This event was held on September 11, 2026, and SGA was able to invite different vendors, including an airbrushing stand and Dirty Sodas. Pantherfest had 400 students in attendance, which was almost double last year’s turnout.
Ali shares her message to students who are looking to get involved, “Adelphi has a place for everybody. Join a club and find your people. You never know what might happen!”
