Editors

Hi everyone! My name is Arpan Josan and I’m a junior English major and the new editor-in-chief for The Delphian. What excites me most about journalism is coming up with topics to write about and hearing the opinions of other students. I love that I get to share important topics for everyone to read and to grow my writing skills in the process. What I appreciate most about The Delphian is that it has a wide variety of topics so there’s something interesting for everyone.

My name is Troy Cofie and I’m an economics major with a double minor in political science and math. I’m the editor of the opinions section of The Delphian. I think, more than ever, journalism has to be the voice of the people and inform them about what’s going on behind closed doors. I think The Delphian is an important outlet for the Adelphi community as it gives voice to many students.

Hello! I’m Gabrielle Jaipersaud, or Gabby, and I’m the production editor of The Delphian. I’m a studio art major concentrating in graphic design with minors in video game design and art history. I’m constantly inspired by our work together and excited to keep growing in such a welcoming environment!

Hi everyone! My name is Sophia Sewpersad and I’m a senior English and business management major. I am the co-features editor and I joined The Delphian because I am really passionate about getting information out to the general public and making sure that students are keeping themselves informed regarding clubs and organizations. I was a part of my high school’s student organization, and we constantly sent out important information to students when it came up. Through The Delphian, I plan on making the Features section more open to different ideas and helping writers come up with creative topics that we can share with students and encourage them to get more involved on campus.

Hi, I’m Kyle Arjoonsingh! I’m a senior communications major with a concentration in public relations and journalism and a minor in political science. I am the editor-at-large and have been part of The Delphian since my second semester. Writing has always been a passion of mine, and it ultimately guided me towards journalism after considering many different career paths. What I love most about writing for the paper is the opportunity to write about topics I’m passionate about while also amplifying the voices of my fellow students.

Suzanne Valenza

Suzanne Valenza earned her MS in Liberal Studies from the Graduate Center at CUNY and her BS in English Education from New York University. Before joining the Adelphi community, Professor Valenza enjoyed a fulfilling career as a public secondary school teacher specializing in teaching journalism and creative writing with emphasis on multimedia and technology integration.

Her family were news people with her father having worked for most of his career as a typesetter at a NYC daily. She infused her passion for journalism into her teaching, and over the years expanded her knowledge of journalistic forms to include video documentary, broadcasting, podcasting, and web development.

Professor Valenza’s aim is to facilitate work that her students have a burning desire to complete, providing the necessary skills for them to tell meaningful stories that matter to them no matter the medium.

Her main goal for The Delphian is to increase content from across all university departments, student organizations, athletics and more, thereby becoming the journal of student life at Adelphi with a dynamic website and social media presence that keeps students engaged, informed and entertained.

When Professor Valenza is not on campus, she spends time in her studio as an avid potter who loves making all kinds of objects out of clay. Most importantly, she is a proud mom, mother-in-law, and stepmom who loves her family, her dog and two granddogs boundlessly.
