Rising junior and nursing student Aaliyah Rakeem shot her short film “Wandering Thoughts” entirely with a DJI Mini 2 SE drone, provided by Adelphi University in the drone course she took with Communications Department Professor Sharma in the spring of 2026. She thoroughly enjoyed taking the class, and recommends it to anyone interested in aerial photography.

The film utilizes bits and pieces of poems Rakeem wrote during and after an abusive relationship. The locations were of places she and her partner had previously visited together. She said, “I wanted to reshape those past experiences into potentially something positive.”
